About Us

The Neptunos Surf school was born from a great desire from many years to pass on our knowledge, culture and satisfaction that surf has provided over 25 years of experience, we felt the need to reciprocate and share it.

So in 2013 we advanced to this dream and so was founded the Neptunos Surf School, the school is enrolled in the Portuguese Federation of Surf and Tourism of Portugal and licensed in the Captaincy of the Port of Lagos and coaches have surf coaching degrees.

The school has a premium concept, which only accepts 8 clients per class (day), and with 2 trainers having a ratio of 1×4 or 1×5, which guarantees an excellent quality and attention to all clients, being possible to give feedbacks in a timely manner and keep the group safe.

Our Lessons

At Neptunos we want to teach beginners into surfers, and see everyone reach their potential and we want to dedicate all our love and commitment on helping everyone achieve their goals.

We are very careful to apply every method of teaching with principles and care in order to be able to build a quality foundation that will assure a solid growth.

We also pass all the knowledge about the ocean, surf and safety rules in order to let everyone know how they can keep themselves safe and respect the others surfers and nature.

For us it is about educating people, helping to understand the true essence of sport and soul, we invite you to come to know us and feel the difference.

During a short january holiday in Carvoeiro my girlfriend gifted me a surf lesson. It was awesome. We went to a great spot on the west coast (arrifana) for a three hour private lesson. The scenery was amazing, the lesson was great: Duarte is very passionate about surfing and a patient teacher. During the entire lesson he was in the water giving instructions. It was pretty intense and i caught (or tried to catch) countless waves. I would certainly recommend Duarte and his school!

My two teenager sons and I have been to different surf schools in Portugal and Bali. What we have learned within 5 lessons at Neptunos Surf School is much more than in two weeks in a surf camp in Bali. The reason for this is the high dedication and professionalism of Duarte, who is the owner of Neptunos Surf School. He selected every day the best possible spot according to our surfing level. Even when other surfers in Algarve were complaining, that the waves were not good enough, Duarte found a surfable spot. Duarte willingly shared his expert knowledge concerning the ocean, the conditions and surf techniques. He is a very dedicated teacher and wanted us to really understand what we were doing. He did challenge us at the right level. At the same time he is fun to be with.

Had a great week improving surfing. Instructors were very knowledgeable and super helpful. Also found the best surf conditions for our level, and when the waves were too big we found the best beaches to watch the experts – awesome ….. we’ll get there one day!!!
